Steve Kerrigan Jan 2025 Town Hall

Hi, and thank you for the opportunity to share. I want to start off by expressing how disappointed I am that Rep. Seth Moulton found himself duped into using his words to attack the microscopic minority of children who find themselves both transgender and interested in playing sports in school. The last time I found myself on a soccer field in a uniform, I was in a co-ed league, and our goalie, a cisgender girl, was the strongest kicker on the team. I really don’t care about the gender policies of college or professional athletics, but K-12 sports exist to foster teamwork and friendship, not to determine the mightiest 16 year-old on the eastern seaboard.

That said, the thing that worries me the most is seeing the FTC and NLRB neutered and defanged by the incoming administration. Private Equity, Big Tech, and the Healthcare Conglomerates have interests that are diametrically opposed to a healthy, functional economy, and are waiting in the wings to further disenfranchise the workers of Massachusetts.

As we just saw the other day, Big Tech is more than willing to shove a half-baked product down our throats, while demanding massive investment, with the stated intention of destroying jobs, only to enrich a bunch of weirdos. I think it’s time we stop listening to the lunatics in Silicon Valley, who want to hollow out the economy while they hide in their bunkers, away from the hurricanes, the wildfires, and the myriad other climate catastrophes that their technologies make inevitable.

And one more thing, the increasing hostility to the LGBTQ community in many of the other states is creating an invisible but growing internal refugee crisis. These are people whose life-saving healthcare has been banned, whose cultural institutions are under a constant threat of violence, and soon enough, mark my words, whose marriages will be no longer recognized by their state governments. Please help them. Please.

Thank you.
